22-year-old Antonio Monds is charged with dogfighting and cruelty to animals

Authorities arrested a Georgia man who they say ran a dog fighting ring that may have involved as many as 29 pit bulls.

22-year-old Antonio Monds is charged with dogfighting and cruelty to animals.  He was apprehended after he arrived in a wooden area in Talbot County where the dogs were staked to the ground with three-foot logging chains tied around their necks.  The investigation was helped by a private security firm that works in the area.  Phil Gallacher, who works for the firm, said several of the dogs had scars on their faces.

He also said some of the dogs didn't have fresh food or water and that they were "living strictly on the dirt."
