Simple tips to help keep your teen driver safe

Loud music….talking on phones….and too many passengers.  All things safety officials warn teen drivers about.

It’s the lack of driving experience combined with distractions from friends, music, food, and cell phones that lead south Georgia teens to get into accidents.

Allstate insurance agent Lonnie Mathis says parents should set a curfew and limits on how many passengers should be in a car.  "Someone using a cell phone at 16 has a reaction time of a 77-year-old person" Mathis says.

A teenager driving like a 77-year-old combined with distractions is a recipe to break the law.

Teens can obtain resources for safe driving from their parents, car insurance company, and online.
