Students looking to become doctors got a chance to mingle with some top med school officials Thursday afternoon.

Admissions Deans from four of five Georgia medical colleges came to Albany to talk with interested students, parents, and counselors at Phoebe Northwest. Southwest Georgia AHEC Center Director Pam Reynolds says their goal is to reduce doctor shortage.

“We’re hoping that these preceptors, these physicians, will mentor these students their entire medical school career, and through their residency, and hopefully they’ll come back and practice in southwest Georgia,” Reynolds said.

Georgia has med schools at Emory, Mercer, Moorehouse, the Medical College of Georgia, and Philadelphia Medical College’s regional campus in Suwanee.
