Heroin dealer get 23 years in prison
(AP) -- An Atlanta heroin dealer who boasted of a "pure, uncut and A-1 grade" product has been sentenced to 23 years and five months in federal prison.
Authorities say at least two people died with heroin sold by Roger Hammond in their systems, although it was impossible to say the drug caused their deaths because they also had consumed alcohol and other drugs. Gregory Gant, the agent in charge of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Atlanta, says "directly or indirectly, Roger Hammond dealt in death."
After Hammond was sentenced Tuesday, federal prosecutors said the 30-year-old Hammond sold more than 100 grams of heroin to an ATF informant in the spring and summer of 2008 and told agents he sold the drug on a daily basis.
