Woman suffers broken pelvis and sustains head injuries

For the second straight weekend another horrific car accident occurred in Albany.

Around 1p.m. Saturday, Albany Police responded to an accident at the intersection of Clark Avenue and School Street.  According to Corporal Patrick Browner, 24-year-old Mercedes Towns was attempting to make a left onto Clark Avenue from School Street but didn’t notice a truck in the far lane.  She pulled out and was immediately run into.  The truck T-boned her car, completely crushing the left side.  Towns was taken to the Hospital where she suffered a broken pelvis and sustained head injuries.

Cordele resident David Thomas who was driving the truck said he was a little sore after the accident and a little shaken up.

“It was a shock.  It’s something I’ve never been through; it was scary.  The only thing I seen was something blue and I heard the hit and that was it.  I didn’t have time to hit my breaks.  God knows I don’t want to see nobody get hurt.  I wasn’t expecting it, not today,” said Thomas.
