A Berrien County boy drowned in a swimming pool during a Memorial Day celebration on Monday.

Police say 1-year-old Ronald Kevin Coleman drowned in a pool at 604 West Washington Avenue in Nashville.  Berrien County Coroner Ben Lovein says the drowning was a tragic accident.   "The kids went inside to eat lunch and thought he was with them, but he wasn’t.  They went to find him and discovered him in the pool,” said Lovein.

Coleman had been removed from the pool when police arrived at the scene.  Officers say the little boy was unresponsive and that all attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.

Coleman would have celebrated his 2nd birthday in August.
