The Economic Development Commission went over their "Program of Work" Wednesday -- an outline of how the E.D.C. will conduct business in the coming year.

One of the many facets of the program is retaining and expanding businesses and making sure they are successful and cost efficient.

That includes trying to get energy tax relief for Proctor and Gamble, since they are one of the largest energy consumers in the state.

“So they're effected in a very big way," said E.D.C. President Ted Clem. "We are surrounded by other states that do not have this particular tax, so it really positions Georgia to be uncompetitive when it comes to heavy manufacturing."

The E.D.C. will be working with local delegates and with state officials on the issue.
