Health officials are working together to provide timely info to southwest Georgians
The confirmed case count for the swine flu in the U.S. now stands at 132.
Since news of the swine flu hit Georgia, the District Public Health offices have been busy answering questions. Dr. Jacqueline Grant, Southwest Health District Director held a conference call with authorities in over 10 counties this morning.
“We’re talking about a fever that’s greater than or equal too 100 degrees Fahrenheit and any of the following symptoms; cough, runny nose or nasal congestion, sore throat, body aches, chills, and fatigue,” said Grant.
Almost 200 callers connected to Grant's conference call in order to get their questions answered. Most of them were about children or employees and preventing them from getting the virus.
“Parents wanting their children to wear masks to school at this time, that is not currently indicated,” said Grant.
Grant also stated that an informative hotline for those inquiring about news of the virus should call 1-888-899-9788.
