Dr. Jacqueline Grant and the public health team have opened an emergency command center
With the first confirmed swine flu death in the United States, the Southwest Georgia District Public Health Director wants us all on the same page.
Dr. Jacqueline Grant and the public health team have opened an emergency command center to share information about the outbreak. Grant says if you think you’re infected, call your health care provider to schedule a test. She says doctors should tell them right away when they administer a swine flu test. There are now 91 confirmed cases, and one death throughout ten states in the country. Grant says you should get tested if you recently traveled to an affected area, have had contact with someone who has swine flu, or had flu-like symptoms in the last seven days.
“The symptoms are fever of 100 degrees or greater, cought or sore throat. Runny nose, and some people are also having some abdominal complaints. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea as well,” said Grant.
