The Southwest Food Bank distributed food to the needy during a stop in Turner County today.
The Food Bank gave out nearly 12,000 pounds of food to more than 500 people. Chicken, grits, beans, and other items were handed out along with 450 food boxes. The Food Bank’s Vice President Tony Hall welcomed everyone.
“With the way the economy is now, people are just afraid to ask for help. So it’s so important that instead of them asking for help, we just say okay we’re going to give, and if you need just show up and we’re giving it to them,” said Hall.
