Dougherty County’s “Code Red” severe weather alert system could be headed to the chopping block.

The County Commission says the system is too expensive to keep unless more residents show an interest. Emergency Management stands behind the system and has made a countywide effort to get more people signed up for the automatic notification.

As on Wednesday afternoon, they had over 6,500 households hooked up and many more waiting for connection.
