Spring breakers build Habitat for Humanity houses in Albany
200 college students from around the country will come to Albany this month to help build houses for Habitat for Humanity.
Over 60 spring breakers are in town this week working on three houses in the Woodland Oaks subdivision. Flint River Habitat for Humanity officials says the 2009 Collegiate Challenge comes at the perfect time, because they’ve had fewer volunteers since the recession hit. “People tryin’ to make ends meat to try and make sure their families are taken care of has kinda taken away from bein’ concerned about other families,” said David Willson, Habitat’s Volunteer Coordinator.
Wilson says they hope to finish all three homes that went up in October and start a new one by the end of March.
