We’re in the middle of the flu season and plenty of cases are being reported in southwest Georgia.

During the past week, more than 150 flu cases have been confirmed within the Southwest Georgia Heath District's surrounding 14 counties; 11 required hospital visits.  The flu doesn’t discriminate against any age or race.  Dr. Jacqueline Grant, the Director of the Southwest georgia Health District, gives these preventative tips.

“Make sure they’re washing their hands properly, also covering coughs or sneezes.  We like to teach the proper way to do that because we don’t like for people to cough in their hands and then go out and spread those germs.  We like people to cough in their elbow.  If you’re sick, stay home or if you have a sick child stay home,” said Grant.
