ALBANY, GA --
City of Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard and Dougherty County Commission Chairman Jeff Sinyard met with Congressman Sanford Bishop and US Senators Johnny Isakson and Saxby Chambliss on Wednesday to discuss the possibility of privatizing the post office building on West Broad so it won't close.

Mayor Hubbard says workers from the postal service and the owner of the building were also present in the hopes of finding out more information on how to contract out a post office building.

The senators were able to put the group in contact with the right people who can walk the city through all of the steps and requirements they must meet in order to go through with contracting the building out to a person who has expressed interest in running the post office on West Broad.

Mayor Hubbard says for the first time since they were told the office would need to close, she feels there is a possibility that they could keep it open and make the contract work.
