ALBANY, GA -- The
Southwest Georgia Homeschool Association
gathered Friday morning at the Church of Christ in Albany for their "International Day."
Earlier this year, each homeschooled family signed to learn about a country.
Friday, they met to share things about their country, things such as geography, history and even local cuisine.
However, events like this are more than just a world cultures lesson; "you know a lot of our learning is done at home in family units so when were able to get together periodically to do things like this it's a lot of fun and it helps with that socialization issue that people are always so concerned about," explained Pat Fenner, a co-organizer of the event.
The Southwest Georgia Homeschool Association says they try to have big events like this at least once a month.
