Albany State University hosted the eleventh annual Southwest Georgia Model Bridge-building Competition Saturday.

The competition allows students in the region to solve realistic engineering problems by designing and constructing structurally efficient balsa wood bridges according to stated specifications.

Chris Butts, with the event, said they put on this event in hopes of getting more students interested in going to school for something math, science, or engineering related.
