ALBANY, GA -- With a bad economy, 2010 and 2011 may not have had the best conditions for selling a
home
, however, local realtors say, last year, things started looking up.
"2012 was a good year as far as sales are concerned we're hoping the trend will continue into 2013," said Allan Willcox, with Willcox Realty.
Low interest rates and a lot of house foreclosures are a few reasons Allan Wilcox describes this as a buyer’s market, unfortunately that may not be the best news for someone trying to sell their home.
With so many properties on the market, there are a few things a home owner can do, to help their house stand out from the rest.
"The latest fad that we see is the in kitchen, counter tops, the granite counter tops, kitchen and baths, and we're tending to go back to wood floors again," said Chuck Willcox, owner of Willcox realty.
These types of upgrades can be expensive; experts say it's not always about adding value to your home, but making it more attractive to buyers.
Willcox warns that fads change, so sometimes all a house needs is a good cleaning and a fresh paintjob, to help your house sell.
