ALBANY, GA -- Some of Dougherty County’s “STAR” students were recognized at a Luncheon this afternoon.
Like they have been doing for over 50 years, the
Albany Area Chamber of Commerce
recognized students from both public and private schools around the county, for maintaining a high level of academic achievement.
Which is something Chris Hardy, the President and CEO of the Albany Area Chamber said positively affects the community, "Education is the starting point for everything, quality of life, work force development, a high quality in each community, all starts with education, and these START students as well as the overall winner; they represent the best of the best."
Friday's STAR students were Kaitlyn Elise Yarborough from Deerfield-Windsor, Katherine Michelle Godwin from Albany High, Annailse L. Clem from Sherwood Christian and Kawsi Chinua Wrensford from Westover High.
The overall winner was Kaitlyn Elise Yarborough, who will travel to Americus for a chance at winning $34,000 dollars in scholarships.
