The 15th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance was sponsored by Girls Inc. of Albany.

Organizers say the event was an opportunity for dads or a male role-model to strengthen their bond with the young women in their lives.

More than 3,000 people participated in the event.

"This is an opportunity for us to have girls experience what it's like to go on a date, to have someone to affirm the, to give them love, show them affection and really just to give them an opportunity to be princess for the night," said Sherrell Alexander, Executive Director of Girls Inc. of Albany.

She says the dance is a way for the girls to build self esteem and self worth so they grow up to be successful women.
