TIFTON, GA --

A Tifton man has released a new book recounting stories from his life entitled “I’d Rather be Dead than Red on the Head.”

The name is a quote from a classmate who teased Hughes as a child.

In the book, Bill Hughes brings humor to real life situations that he has gone through which includes being kidnapped twice, meeting murders on the Greyhound bus while traveling to see his daughter in college and his bizarre encounter with a witch doctor.

Although the book is meant for humor, Hughes says he tries to show readers that it is during the difficult and memorable times of life that one must remember that God is the one in control.

“No matter what happens in your life whether it's good or bad, if it's crazy, or if it doesn't make sense, the idea is that in all of that we don't trust ourselves but we trust in God, that he's going to take care of us. That's kind of what I’ve wanted to share during the whole thing,” said Bill Hughes.

Hughes says he decided to put the stories to paper after students found them interesting during his Sunday school classes.

The book can be purchased on Amazon or at a bookstore.
