ALBANY, GA --
Some big things happened this past year in Albany. The Heritage House was removed and the Georgia Throwdown, a three day music festival was brought to the fairgrounds, It also saw a major business make the move into town.

"For the economic development commission a big highlight was the addition of outdoor network as a new company to Albany," said Ted Clem President of Albany-Dougherty Economic Development Commission.

The Outdoor Network created 112 jobs for the area.

Downtown Albany, continued is growth from 2011 with a net gain of four businesses in the area.

The folks at Downtown Albany have been taking strides into making down town more accessible and appealing to pedestrians.

"We finally got the Pine Avenue streetscape project underway here at the end of the year," said Aaron Blair, the Downtown Manager.

As we move into 2013, last year will not be forgot, as officials say a lot of this year’s success will be based off of ground work laid in 2012.

"We've got some good projects in our pipeline that we've been working with for quite a while, and we're hoping that these companies can move forward and make a decision to invest," said Clem, who adds these companies need to hear about taxes and healthcare cost before making the decision to come to Albany.

Overall officials say they are looking forward to 2013.
