ALBANY, GA --
One marine may have missed Christmas in the United States, but Non-Commission Officer in Charge, Jason Womelsdorf will be ringing in the New Year with friends and co-workers.

Womelsdorf returned to the Marine Corps Logistics Base Monday evening following a 6-month deployment to Djibouti, Africa working with the marines, navy, air force and army.

"The experience for work-related matters was ideal, it was a once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to do that. I mean, it's not Afghanistan, it's not Iraq, it's a unique opportunity in the fact of going to a place where there's not many people going,” said Womelsdorf.

The marine says it's surreal to come back and see how many things have changed while others have stayed the same.
