ALBANY, GA --

Vice president Joe Biden and Congressman Paul Ryan square off Thursday in the one and only Vice Presidential debate.

Darton State College political science professor Roger Marietta said the candidates had the opportunity to talk more specifics because of their current involvement in the government.

"One in the executive branch, one in the house, in the legislative branch, so they can't talk about generalities like Romney did, they have to be specific”, said Marietta

Even though the vice president is second in command, Marietta doesn't see them as a heavy influence on voters, “I think for the vast general public, that's not the biggest issue, who's the vice president.”

There are still two more presidential debates planned, one for October 16th and third and final debate on October 22nd.
