ALBANY, GA --
FOX 31's media partner the Albany Herald has confirmed that American Idol winner Phillip Phillip's mother has been arrested and charged for driving under the influence-less safe and failure to maintain lane.

The Herald reports that Sheryl Jean Phillips is undergoing booking at the Dougherty County Jail after being stopped by an Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit officer on Davis Street shortly around 1 PM.

FOX 31 spoke to Major Bill Berry with the Albany-Dougherty Drug Unit who said that one of his officers observed Phillips driving erratically on Palmyra, striking the curb, so officers made a traffic stop.

Officers did not smell any alcohol, but gave a field sobriety test due to her behavior. Phillips was unable to complete the test and was taken to Phoebe Putney for a blood test.

Berry says that the results of the test will determine whether or not the DUI charge stays.
