CAMILLA, GA -- Thrown against any class, it's clear the Westwood Wildcats belong amongst Georgia High School Football's best teams. This weekend, the Wildcats have to play their best game of the season to reach the pinnacle again.

A bigger, stronger, faster Valwood Valiant team stands in the way of Westwood's GISA-AA State Championship. But a larger streak is on the line for the Wildcats- a third straight state title.

“Just like every other year...it's the state playoffs and the state championship...we want to win, but there's just a little bit more to prove this year,” Westwood quarterback Mitch Good said.

In 2010 and ’11, the Wildcats racked up 26 wins en route to two GISA-A Championships, but this year was supposed to be the end of the run. Moving up to the GISA’s AA, the domination of head coach Ross Worsham and his Wildcats was set to end. That’s just not the way these kids from Camilla work.

Westwood finished the 2012 regular season 8-2 losing the region title to their state champion opponent, Valwood. The doubters continued to pile on as Westwood ran through a playoff campaign averaging 36 points in the three victories.

That sets up a rematch against the undefeated Valiants Friday in Valdosta. The doubters continue for these underdog Wildcats, but it’s that doubt that keeps this team believing.

“We've been the underdogs for the past three years in the championship game. Now, we're the underdog to Valwood. It gives us a little bit more motivation to prove ourselves,” Westwood running back J.T. Edore said.

Edore led the way in Westwood’s 40-28 semifinal win over Brentwood scoring four touchdowns in the first half. The running game of Edore, Good and Mason Worsham will be the focus again for a chance at history and the three-peat.
