NEW YORK, NY --
According to a press release issued by the College Board, Worth County schools have made the grade.
Worth County was one of seven districts in Georgia to be placed on the College Board District of the Year Awards Annual Honor Roll list. The other counties from Georgia making the list include DeKalb, Gwinnett, Madison, Oconee, Rockdale, and Walker.
The list is comprised of 539 public schools from across the United States.
According to College Board, schools can get placement on the list by increasing participation or access to AP classes by at least four percent in large districts, at least six percent in medium districts and at least 11 percent in small districts; ensuring that the percentage of African American, Hispanic/Latino, and American Indian/Alaska Native students taking AP Exams did not decrease by more than five percent for large and medium districts or by more than 10 percent for small districts; improve performance levels when comparing the percentage of students in 2012 scoring a three or higher to those in 2010, unless the district has already attained a performance level in which more than 70 percent of the AP students are scoring a 3 or higher.
Worth County High School Parent Involvement Coordinator Kathy Conger told WorthIt2U.net that “all of the hard work from our teachers, students, staff, parents, and anyone else involved in our students’ education is really paying off.”
