ALBANY, GA --
With the last few weeks of winter winding down there are a few hazards the warmer weather will bring for your pets.

Parasites like fleas and ticks are more prevalent in warmer weather, and so are mosquitoes that could potentially spread heart worm disease.

Even Parvovirus, an intestinal disease common in puppies, becomes more common as get outside and interact with other dogs says Dr. Fred Freeland with Albany Pet Partners, "If they're not protected by vaccination and they're exposed they can become seriously ill and even die."

This is why Dr. Freeland says the spring is a great time of year to treat your pet for fleas and ticks as well as making sure they're up-to-date on all vaccines.
