Apartment fire displaces building residents

Albany firefighters responded to a structure fire Wednesday morning at the Cedar Avenue Apartments.

Upon arrival, firefighters found flames contaned in the upstairs bedroom of apartment 7A located at 1013 Cedar Avenue.

The fire was under control in about fifteen minutes. No one was in the building at the time.

Apartment 7A sustained heavy damage due to the fire and surrounding apartments sustained heavy smoke damage.

Due to smoke and fire damage, all occupants in this particular apartment building have been displaced. Red Cross has been called in to help with the displacement.

No surrounding apartment buildings were affected.

The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
