ALBANY, GA --
Victoria Darrisaw was sworn in Friday morning by Judge Nancy Stephenson as the new Dougherty County State Court Judge.

The position was vacated by outgoing State Court Judge John Salter, who was also honored later in the ceremony.

Darrisaw campaigned against Albany attorney Christopher Warren for the position during 2012 elections.

Darrisaw is originally from South Carolina and a graduate of Spellman College and of the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University.

She was appointed as the Magistrate judge in 2009 by Salter.

Darrisaw said she was humbled by the outpour of support from the community and she is ready to hit the ground running.
