ALBANY, GA -- The holidays are a time of giving but the Albany Red Cross Donation Center says it's one of their low points during the year. Rena Thomas with the center says they need to collect at least 20 donations per day to keep up with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital's demand but the office was only seeing a few people a day until they started offering incentives. Throughout the holidays the office is offering gifts like ornaments and pies to those who donate and says this is one of the most important times to give back. AAA reports that there will be an increase in drivers on the road during the holidays which means an increase in the chance of accidents requiring transfusions for victims. The Albany Red Cross Center says they need all of the donations they can get and it's one of the easiest ways to save a life and takes less than 30 minutes of your time.
