Elementary school teacher suspended for improper search.

ALBANY, GA. --
Sylvester Road Elementary School teacher, Deborah Flood, has been placed on a 15 day suspension after engaging in the inappropriate search of a student.
Flood’s sentence began March 4th and will end on March 25, 2013.
Paul Shaw, the Director of Educator Ethics for the Georgia Professional Standards Commission, says the letter notifying Flood of the suspension was sent out February 17th.
The elementary school educator is on suspension for searching a student without a witness present and without notifying school administrators of the search.
Georgia Professional Standards Commission officials reached a decision to suspend Flood on February 12th.
According to the director of educator ethics for the GaPSC, Flood can return to the classroom after her sentence, however, this decision does not affect how the Dougherty County School System will handle the situation.
Deborah Flood was also under investigation by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission for violations in the CRCT testing protocol. Since there was not enough sufficient evidence to warrant sanctions, no charges were brought against her.
