TAMPA, FLA -- AAA has announced that due to optimism that both European and U.S. economies are improving, leading to a higher demand in fuel that in turn will lead to high prices at the pump.

According to the Auto Club Group, retail gas prices have remained relatively stable, staying below their counterparts from a year ago, but the price of a gallon of gas is inching up.

"Oil prices are on an upswing right now and gas prices are starting to follow suit," said AAA spokeswoman Jessica Brady in the release. "Although motorists shouldn't see too much fluctuation in gas prices at the moment, prices are sure to rise in March. So far this year, we have not seen record-breaking pump prices and the cost for a gallon of gas remains below year-ago levels."
