ALBANY --
While many are focusing on a New Year’s resolution to lose weight, some say you should eat more of certain lucky foods for a prosperous 2013.

Collard greens and black-eyed peas symbolize wealth and prosperity, and Chef Loretta Jefferies Young says it’s a good luck tradition to start off your year cooking them.

Collard greens stand for paper money and the black-eyed peas stand for coins – but Jefferies-Young says the food as a whole is meant to symbolize the end of a struggle and new beginnings.
