ALBANY, GA --
The Lee County Board of Education met Monday to discuss the brand new middle school opening up, plus the principal they'll be placing there.

The county named, Kelli Duke, as the woman who will lead the system through this change. Duke says above everything else, she's just excited for the opportunity.

"I see this as a great honor, I am very excited about leading our school through this split, and I know there's going to be obstacles. But we have to overcome those, and we'll make it through," said Duke.

The board is still deciding on a name for the new middle school and plans to have that decision made by next week.
