ALBANY, GA --
In our Facebook Story of the Day, you wanted to know how the flu season is so far around Southwest Georgia.

The Southwest Georgia Public Health office says not only did patients test positive for the flu earlier this year but the amount of cases is also higher than normal.

Epidemiologist Jacqueline Jenkins says the hospitals and emergency rooms have seen a spike in the number of flu patients since the end of October.

Jenkins says if you're running a fever, have body aches or are experiencing nausea and vomiting, go to the doctor for treatment.

If you haven't gotten a case of this year's flu yet, Jenkins says be sure to get the flu vaccine, wash your hands regularly and spray Lysol on commonly touched surfaces.
