ALBANY, GA -- Different forms of the same exercise can work different muscles. Changing between front squats, back squats and overhead squats will give a more complete body workout.

“You'll see when we start to do this that it's actually bar positioning, and different aspects on the body that when performing the different squats that we're going to do today it will have a different effect on different areas of the body,” said Kris Morrill, fitness coach.

All three forms of squat will work quads, gluts and hamstrings.  The overhead squat adds in stability which works the core.

No matter the exercise, proper foundation is crucial.  Start at the feet and work up to the head checking form.  Beginners should not try to overdue the movement with too much weight too soon.
