ALBANY, GA -- Twin Oaks Elementary in Lee County gathered volunteers today to plant trees around the school.

This effort all part of the "Making the Shade," grant given out by the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Twin Oaks Principal, Dr. Jason Miller, says the project is beneficial for the school, and for its students.

"These trees will be beneficial 20-years down the road, but just as it is in class, students learn things that won't immediately benefit them, but in the long term have great benefits," said Dr. Miller.

Trees were planted along the front of the building, and around the playground to provide shade for generations of students to come.
