ALBANY, GA -- In our Facebook story of the day you wanted to know how Chehaw takes care of their animals during a cold spell.

Zoo Director, Kevin Hils, says there are several things they do to keep the animals warm.

Many of the things they do are things that humans would do to keep warm. They provide extra bedding for the animals when temperatures drop, and they make sure to give them a little extra food so they are burning more calories at night.

When the reptiles get cold they have a special UV light to lay under that helps them warm up.

Hils also said fortunately, in southwest Georgia the temperatures don't get too cold so the animals typically stay warm.
