ALBANY, GA --
Lee County officials held a meeting Wednesday morning to announce a Heroes Run that will be held in February.

They are still in the planning stage of the event but have mapped out a route and decided on a 5 mile run and .911 mile fun run.

Organizers of the event encourage everyone in the community to attend whether it's to run, walk, or just cheer on others.

One of the fallen heroes this run will honor is Lance Corporal Steve Sutton. Sutton was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2012.

Lee County Commissioner Greg Finch said it took incredible patriotism and bravery to do what Sutton did every day. It's the kind of values that Sutton had instilled in him, along with many other service members, that Finch and the other event organizers are trying to instill in everyone in the community.

The race will be held Saturday, February 23rd.
