YMCA offers prizes for lean team

ALBANY, GA -- The Albany-area YMCA has come up with a new promotion to help Southwest Georgians lose weight.

The YMCA is sponsoring a team weight loss competition, though individuals can enter as well.

The competition starts on Wednesday and lasts 12 weeks until March 27th.

A person can enter individually for a fee of $60 or as a team for $100. Participants do not have to be a member of the YMCA.

Participants will have to weigh in every Wednesday and if people gain wait or miss a weigh-in, they are assessed a penalty fee.

YMCA officials say that the fees go to help with administrative costs, prizes for the top three individuals and teams and the YMCA scholarship fund.
