ALBANY, GA -- Charities around the world do good every day, but around Christmas time it seems they push the limits even more. Operation Christmas Child did that yet again this year bringing in record numbers for their shoe box giveaways.

"We had several thousand more shoebox gifts donated, so we were really, really pleased. And you know it's amazing cause that means a few more thousand kids that will be blessed by these gifts," said Media Coordinator, Melissa Klute.

The organization for years has asked American families to pack up a shoebox filled with toys, hygiene products, and other fun gifts for underprivileged kids across the globe.

Klute says although the Christmas season is their main focus, people can still get involved year round.

"We have another program called, "Build-A-Box" that goes on throughout the year. Anyone who wants to get involved can visit the website, www.samaritanspurse.org," said Klute.
