ALBANY, GA -- It's election time and local schools are getting in on the action.

Students at Albany High will be holding a mock debate in about a week. Social Studies teacher Will Thomas says his students actually run their own campaigns, create platforms and hold mock elections each year.

Thomas says he enjoys watching his students gain a better understanding of the meaning of democracy and how our government works.

The presidential election will be held November 6.
