ALBANY, GA. -- The Albany-Dougherty Aviation Commission has approved some new changes for the new Southwest Georgia Regional Airport terminal.
Board members approved a change order to make the sanitary and sewer lift station larger to accommodate for future expansions.
“Those changes were made as well as a change to strengthening the foundation for a roll-up door like you would see at the mall,” said Yvette Aehle, Airport Director.
A new roll-up door would secure the concession area when needed. The changes will cost more than $64,000.
“That's half of a percent of a change to Walbridge Aldinger's contract. It'll go before the city commission on December 11th and so we hope they will pass that,” said Yvette Aehle.
Another idea brought before the aviation commission is one that may provide comfort for airport patrons. Commissioners are considering an additional cooling system to place in the holding area.
A large fan would provide relief from the sun beaming through the glass windows. This device would be used in addition to the already approved air conditioning system.
“It's just a precautionary measure. We may not need it, but a change order would be probably the best thing to do at this particular time while we're still building the building,” said Keith Fletcher, Aviation Commissioner.
The board tabled a change order for the additional fan for further discussion and review.
