ALBANY, GA --
Distinguished Albany residents dressed up for Albany Technical College's Annual Roast and Silent Auction on Friday evening.

This year President and CEO of Flint River Services, Lem Griffin was the lucky recipient of jokes by fellow guests including Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital President and CEO Joel Wernick, Lem's brother, W.F. Griffin and more.

The event is one of ATC's two major fundraisers throughout the year that raises money for students who don't qualify for financial aid or are trying to get their GED.

ATC President Dr. Anthony Parker says students who don't have their GED aren't eligible for financial aid, and often those who don't have their GED can't pay for college. Dr. Parker says it's events like these that make it possible for more people to get their degrees and make it in the working world, which is extremely important for our community's workforce.

Griffin was chosen as the evening's roast recipient following a long process that Dr. Parker says looks into which residents embody the goals presented through technical colleges.
