ALBANY, GA --
February may be a short month but that doesn’t mean there is time in it for gas prices to rise. The current average in Georgia for a gallon of gasoline is $3.64 up 17 cents from last week.

AAA is blaming the price jump on the recent snow storm in the Northeast, oil refineries switching to the summer gas blend, and concerns around Iran's nuclear program; reasons that leave some drivers feeling helplessness.

"Someone else, somewhere, is calling the shots on that and we're at their mercy," said Charles Thompson, of Lee County.

To put it in prospective, a car with a 15 gallon tank will cost $5 more to fill up then it did a month ago, which has some people thinking twice before hoping in the car.

"You just have to plan your trips more wisely, you just don't jump in the car and run off anywhere with gas the prices they are," said Albany Driver Spencer Davis.

While prices are up across Albany the east side does tend to be a little cheaper, as much as $.20 cents at some stations, which is why Fredric Askew from West Albany made the trip to over, "I decided to fill up here in East Albany because gas is a lot cheaper then out in West Albany."

It doesn't look like reprieves from the rising prices are in sight as AAA is projecting that gas will continue to rise through April before retreating
