In our Facebook story of the day, you wanted to know what the Girl Scouts do with the money raised by selling cookies.

FOX 31 spoke to Patrice Devine, membership manager of the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia in Albany, who said with every purchase, about 70% of the proceeds are split between the local Girl Scout council to provide resources needed, and with troops overseas. A portion also goes directly to the group selling the cookies, and a balance goes to the baker to pay for the cookies.

Devine also said selling cookies is designed to teach girls five important skills they will need for the rest of their lives. These skills are goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics.
