Albany officials explore the idea of becoming a National Heritage Area.

ALBANY, GA. -- Albany may be able to boost tourism by becoming a National Heritage Area.
Consultants were in town Wednesday to speak with Thronateeska officials about what it takes to be qualified.
They say the Flint River and other Albany resources make the city a perfect selection for one of the sites.
“It's going to be up to them to begin talking with other agencies and other organizations and trying to figure out how they can build a process and a partnership to really get it done,” said Elizabeth Watson, Consultant with Heritage Strategies.
There are three other National Heritage Areas in Georgia.
