ALBANY, GA --
Control over Water Gas & Light wasn't the only topic on the table for Albany City Commissioners on Tuesday.

Albany Fire Chief, James Carswell, spoke to the commission in hopes of renovating the entire Albany-Dougherty 911 Dispatch Center.

Carswell says the new equipment will drastically improve work conditions, and overall services, but with a hefty price tag.

"It's $998,000 dollars, the voters approved 2.85 million for the overall complex, and then again this is the second stage of a three step process that we're looking to complete," said Chief Carswell.

Among the improvements are more centralized work stations, and the ability for dispatchers to stand while taking calls.
