ALBANY, GA -- Jay Smith with Georgia Power stopped by the Flint River Chapter of Habitat for Humanity to deliver a $2500 check.

The funds will be used by Habitat officials to buy supplies needed to complete two handicap accessible homes in the Albany Area.

“We can normally take this check and stretch it to put in the heating and air conditioning system for at least one of the houses. So that will be a great benefit to helping defray overall costs of the house,” said Ross Harrison, President of the Flint River Chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

Habitat is receiving the funds after applying for a grant from Georgia Power.

For the past few weeks college students from across the U.S. have flocked to the area to help build the homes.

Habitat officials say by the time spring break season is over; the structures will be nearly finished.
