ALBANY, GA -- "Strive to Thrive," continues to educate the Albany area on the effect poverty has on their community. The group ran a special, "poverty simulator," this weekend that showed the struggles that impoverished families go through on a day-to-day basis.

Executive Director, Ausha Jackson says it's extremely difficult to understand poverty unless you've experienced it first hand.

"Each person that went through the simulation gains an understanding of the challenges impoverished families face. Everyone that went through experienced what it's like to not be able to pay your bills, or even feed your own family. So this really is the best way for people to learn," said Jackson.

The simulation exercise is held frequently, and "Strive to Thrive," officials hope everyone learned a tremendous amount from the simulator.
